A new Year

Hey Healdsburg 4-H! It's almost time for our first meeting - September 14 at the Lutheran Church at 7 pm.

And before that - the is a mandatory officers meeting on September 10 at 6 pm at the 4 H Center in Rohnert Park.

Also, the 4-H Foundation Dinner/Auction is early this year - September 19 and we'll need some ideas for a donation/project for them.

We need project leaders for cooking and arts & crafts.

Call Jane, Lannie or Clint if you have any questions.

Community Garden Ideas

Hay HBG 4-Hers. Been meeting with Councilman McGuire about helping build a new addition to the community garden.

Any thoughts about timing? It will take a day or two even. Lots of fun building the new garden plots and paths over at Foss Creek School.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Treasurer's Reminder to All Leaders -Inventory

Hey there, this is just a quick reminder for all of our leader. I need everyone to send me an email containing a list of everything that is in you posesion that belongs to the club. I also need how much the item(s) is worth and your address for my book.

Also another little note. I don't think that all of our club leaders know that they have $100 at their projects disposal, so if you need any equipment, even if it is over $100, come and we me,there may be something we can do.

Due to the weather being miserable and rainy, we won't be doing any stargazing for the LuLin comet this week...

I'll be checking both the weather and the comet's visibility and if we can, we'll reschedule.

Sheep Group

Sheep outing to Hopland Field Station this Sunday February 1

Meet at Bean Affair (used to be Wolffe Coffee) at 9am. Dress warm. We should be back in Healdsburg by 1 or 1:30.

Start an outline of the informational poster you will be making to take to fair(s). This should be sheep related. Some ideas are uses of wool, gestational cycle, fencing, housing, uses in farming, breeds, growing a lamb, types of feed.

Fiber Arts Meeting!

The Fiber Arts group will meet at 2:00-4:00 on Saturday, January 31st. Our meeting will be held at the Village Yarn Store, which is in the Village Sewing Center at Coddingtown Mall. I thought it would be fun for everyone to see the types of yarns that are available now! We will all be picking out yarn and needles for your first knitting project! You should be able to purchase both yarn and needles for under $20.

Here are a few fun knitting links you all might enjoy:

Ravelry - sort of a Facebook for knitters and crocheters. There is a good sized group of high school aged knitters. Sign up to receive an invitation. It takes about a week and the wait is very much worth it!
knitty magazine - free patterns for knitting. You may recognize the face on the winter cover! Here is a pattern that was designed by a high school girl.
Twist Collective - sort of a pattern catalog of sorts. Fun to look at for inspiration.
Knitter's Review - reviews, forums, and articles.

See you soon!
